Verbatim Transcription Outsourcing:
Verbatim transcription outsourcing is the conversion of recorded spoken words into text, including every minute detail of what was said, so it transcribe the every utterance from the audio and it captures in text, the words as they are spoken, including all of these fillers, repeats, incomplete sentences, random words and even the 'ums' ,'ers', 'uhs', false starts, stutters, repetitions and remarks, such as “you know, “like,” and distracting speech patterns, such as “right” and “yeah” and “um-hum”, exclamations, gaps and throat clearing. It also includes pauses, laughter, crying, coughing, interruptions, and external noises, such as “shuffling papers,” “starting DVD,” etc. It represents exactly the live conversation or speech as it happened. This transcription might be used for court transcripts, research, and anything that a customer might prefer to include for purposes of analyzing the transcript.
Intelligent Verbatim Transcription Outsourcing:
However, the verbatim transcription aims to capture the meaning of what is said, not exactly how it was said, and this is called Intelligent Verbatim Transcription. When converting a speech or interview into text the main priority is often to capture the meaning of what is being spoken and not every last word used. Intelligent audio transcription allows the filler words, the repeats and other irrelevant material to be stripped out. The flavor of the speech is retained by including the half-complete sentences and the sudden changes in direction. The transcriber must refrain from correcting grammar and making small additions or deletions which they consider to be improvements. As far as possible the transcriber must remain objective, only eliminating material which is clearly surplus and irrelevant.
Intelligent Verbatim Transcription is less detailed than verbatim transcription and it's often slightly cheaper because it is quicker to prepare. |
